There is something that affects so many women, but particularly entrepreneurs, visionaries, creatives, business owners and high performing women in business; and this is the tendency to overwork and overachieve.
In this week's episode of the Inside Out Entrepreneur® Podcast I dig deep into the Overachiever and Overworker Emotional Survival Pattern®. It is near on impossible to be a coach / therapist / mentor working on the inner worlds of women, whether entrepreneurs, creatives, visionaries or other high performing individuals without having a very deep understanding of the emotional life of entrepreneurs and in particular, self sabotage.
I've seen masses of ways self sabotage manifests and I have personally experienced the vast majority over the past 15 years (and before that too). And, yep, you guessed it...one of the most common ways self sabotage shows up is overachieving and overworking.
But there is a sting in the tail of this kind of self sabotage because overachieving in your business is one of those really sneaky things that you may well be aware of but even then you can't seem to get a handle on it.
Listen to a 30 second clip from the show above...
This is because all is not as it seems on the surface. You aren't usually setting out with a big goal of "Right, let me overachieve all by myself today, that sounds a great plan". You don't actually WANT to overachieve or overwork. But it still happens. And that is because overworking, overdoing and overachieving are side effect of something else that is going on deep inside connected to inner beliefs, past experiences, stress, trauma and a lot more.
Overachieving has a tendency to sneak in in ways you won't always spot or when you do spot it, it can feel like are trapped in a hamster wheel of overachieving, afraid to let go of anything because your overachieving is like the scaffolding holding up your business. Sound familiar?
So, what should you do? This is what I discuss in this week's episode of the Inside Out Entrepreneur® Podcast.
